  • This course is for current and recent AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellows seeking clarity and support to find work following their fellowship.

This course is NOT for you if you already know what job or career you want and are simply pursuing best practices in applying, interviewing, and negotiating.

  • This course equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to learn more about and prepare for any career path. Additionally, course instructor Dr. Stephanie Pearl is able to offer deeper insights into science communication, policy, government research and administration, and independent consulting based on her personal experiences in these areas.

  • This course equips participants with skills, knowledge, and mindsets to take agency in generating their own career outcomes, whatever those desired outcomes may be.

  • Participants are expected to attend and fully engage in each of the six, 90-minute Zoom sessions to receive maximal benefit. Sessions will be held live and include breakout discussions and one-on-one “laser coaching” sessions with each participant.

That said, life happens! If you cannot attend a session, please let the instructor know and you may have an opportunity for a brief, one-on-one makeup session. Additionally, recordings of each session will be made available to all course registrants.

  • Participants determine their own homework load, which will vary by individual. Sessions 2–6 will conclude with goal setting, and sessions 3-6 will incorporate accountability to support follow-through. The instructor may also provide supplementary resources after each session, which participants can review at their discretion.

  • If you have additional questions not addressed on this page, please email Stephanie Pearl at spearl@adaptiverootsconsulting.com.
